“The First Dance”
My mother painted this picture for my best friends of their first dance. She was able to capture the moment perfectly!

Two years ago today we were married! Since I spent every single summer at Houghton Lake with my Grandparents it was only appropriate that we get married there. With a little negotiating with my now hubby I got my wish.
The weather that summer was terrible. I was so very fortunate that the four day weekend we planned Mother Nature was on our side. It could not have been anymore amazing.
We stayed at The Comfort Suites. A lovely hotel right on the water that was very accommodating and were great to work with. There were only a few minor glitches ( honeymoon suite air conditioner broke and it was 98 degrees while getting ready and stayed that warm into the night)
For our rehearsal dinner we rented a big paddle boat for a few hours that took the wedding party and some family around the lake. We also rented the huge water park inside the hotel after the wedding for 2 hours. They had water slides, hot tubes, lazy rivers.
The best and most dangerous part was they brought all the left over liquor. The party lasted until about 2:30 am.
Great photo looking down from the Hotel.
The pictures from a different angle looks like the dock is going to cave in.
We hand each center piece. Lots of Micheal’s runs.
These photos are obviously only a few photos from our special day, but they are some of my favorites.
Can’t believe it is already two years. How long have you been married?

I came across an old photo album and in contained some of our honeymoon picture that I have not looked at in 2 years. Our 2 year anniversary in this Monday 8/15 so it was perfect timing to find these.
We spent seven very relaxing days in Antigua. It was a very small sub-par resort, but that didn’t matter. (The hubs found a great deal) We were married and the planning was over. I will always remember those seven days being the most relaxing of my life. No internet, no cell phones, and no more wedding talk!
The ocean had the most beautiful colors of greens and blues.
At sundown they released 150 baby sea turtles. The chances of survival as very slim, but a night release keeps the birds away!
This week my husband asked what we should do for our 2nd year anniversary. He is a great planner and never forgets the important dates. I think I will request just a nice dinner maybe a movie since we are going to see kid rock on Friday. =)
Where did you go on your honeymoon and would you go back?

I am not an expert on marriage and can not offer any sort of knowledgeable advice seeing that I have been married for only 1 1/2 years. BUT, I have been fortunate enough to be surround by many marriages that have lasted a long time. My parents just celebrated 35 years, my husband’s parents are still happily married, both my grandparents had long loving relationships. Even my friends growing up, their parents are all still married.
As I enter into this journey called marriage, I often think about what it takes to make it work. (In no particular order.)

If you could describe your marriage in 5 words, what would those words be?
